Pest Bird Control
Pest Bird Infestation Control Service - Pigeon Deterrent, Seagull & Pigeon Proofing, Bird Fouling Cleaning & Falconry
EBS have been cleaning up bird's mess and installing anti-bird nets, steel mesh, pigeon wires and pigeon or seagull spikes in London and Southern England since 2002!

Bird-Net (anti-bird netting)
Installed properly, anti-pigeon or seagull nets don't hide architectural or building features or reduce light indoors and will last for many years - We use stainless steel fixings and perimeter cabling as standard.
Anti-bird nets for pigeons, seagulls and other pest birds are available in black, stone or translucent with a range of different mesh sizes and thickness to deny all species of pest bird in many different environments, such as elevations, machinery, roofs, fire escapes, balconies and more.
Welded Mesh
Popular for effective bird protection in those environments where random human contact is possible, vandal resistent welded mesh is made from galvanised or stainless steel in a range of mesh sizes that will deter all pest bird species.

EBS protected this road bridge in Kent against roosting pigeons by installing 50mm, 12 gauge weldmesh panels spot-welded off site to individual framed sections before being fitted on site using removable beam clamps.
Our tradesmen can also take flat sheets of mesh and skilfully cut to shape on site to fit neatly around virtually any projecting structure, shelf or recess.
Bird Control Access

Choice of access is important to provide the safe working environment necessary at the optimum cost. EBS personnel are competent and qualified in using ladders safely, operating powered access (eg, Cherrypickers), erecting and using alloy towers and rope access (abseil) we can also arrange for hire of fixed scaffolds and cradles if required.
Bird-Wire - Sprung-Wire System
Commonly known as the 'Pin and Wires' or 'Spring-Wire' is a discreet pest bird proofing solution against roosting seagulls and pigeons with many versions available for ledges, sills, pipes/handrails, gutters, girders and more.
It is however only designed for low levels of pest bird activity and will not resist repeated attacks from established pest seagulls, pigeons or smaller birds trying to overcome it. We will advise its suitability on your site from our survey.
'Bird-Point' Anti-Perch Spikes
Bird-Point (or anti-perch bird spikes) are probably the most well known of pest bird proofing systems from their installation up and down High Streets all over the U.K.
They are quite aggressive looking and therefore perhaps not ideal where aesthetics is important, however they are very resilient in the control of pest pigeons, seagulls and starlings.
Again, many versions are available for gutters, sills, ledges, pipes, girders etc. Stainless steel or the more economical polycarbonate version of spikes are available
Avishock

Avishock is the most discreet pest bird & pigeon deterrent system available today.
The Avishock system consists of a UV stabilised and flexible heavy duty plastic base sewn into which are stainless-steel braids which carry a very high voltage/low electric current, measured in milliamps - think a cow fence, but not as strong. The high quality Energisers which provide the charge, plug directly into a nearby mains socket.
The flexibility allows curves and angled surfaces to all be protected equally as well therefore allowing architects specifications to be met.
Avishock has completed extensive UK trials and has been accepted for use by the RSPCA, RSPB, The Scottish Government, Welsh Assembly, Northern Ireland Office and the HSE.
Falconry Pest Bird Control
For those situations where physical proofing is not practical, perhaps because of cost or geography, flock control is an option which could include the use of predatory birds such as this Harris Hawk to scare pigeons away.
Environments where we typically carry out falconry as part of a pest bird control solution would be business parks, shopping centres, housing estates and office complexes which occupy large sites.
Cleaning up Bird Droppings
The fouling (including nests, eggs, carcasses etc) produced by pest birds is usually the main reason why birds need to be moved away. It is an unsightly, unhygenic, smelly mess that can cause mechanical or structural failure, hinder maintenance or repair work and present various safety hazards to people in the vicinity.
Cleaning up this mess is always part of any pest bird or pigeon proofing system we install, or carried out as a separate operation, if for example feral pigeons or pest seagulls have been entering through an open window, like they were here.
Birds living in our towns and cities achieve pest status by their presence in numbers or locations that cause nuisance or hazards to humans or our property. Pest seagulls and pigeons are usually only around because food is easy to find nearby and/or because suitable shelter for roosting and nesting is available. Take away those and the birds will move away.
The above is a simple premise - one that should always be considered first to remove these nuisance birds but often one that is difficult to put into action.
This is why we provide a wide range of seagull and pigeon proofing (and for other species that become a nuisance such as starlings and sparrows) and various other pest bird control services to reduce and remove them.
Hazards from pest birds are usually related to the fouling they produce and mess or damage they cause and can include:
- Building and structural damage caused by the acidic bird fouling eating into porous surfaces, such as stone and brick. Leave bird fouling on car paintwork and it will stain.
- Bird fouling on pitched roofs will eventually be washed into gutters risking blockages. External overflowing is common, however so is internal flooding damage which is always expensive to put right.
- Fresh or wet bird fouling on walkways, fire exit routes, service areas and the like always present slipping hazards and the associated injury risk.
- Insect pests indoors - Fleas, flies, mites, lice etc can live and breed on the birds, their nests and their leavings. If (and when) these insects find their way indoors, staff irritation and upset will usually follow.
- Disease transmission to humans is fairly rare, however inhaling dry fouling dust can cause illness such as Psittacosis. Allergic skin reactions can also result.
- Removal of pipe or equipment lagging to use as nesting material.
